In TelevisionWeek‘s video report on ABC’s upfront presentation, Josef Adalian discusses the network’s uniquely conservative approach to the fourth quarter.
While other networks have indicated their intention to start their seasons early, ABC has been taking a go-slow approach. It’s planning only two new shows for fall, and will roll out most of its new and returning fare during premiere week in September. ABC may be planning to focus on getting new shows scheduled and sampled during midseason, with a reported 17 pilots for possible 2008-09 premieres.
Josef Adalian reports on why the network may be playing it safe, adding only “Life on Mars,” a police show adapted from a BBC hit, and game show “Opportunity Knocks.”
