The board of directors of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association approved a plan that would align a variety of national annual industry meetings and events within one week in the spring and one week in the fall.
The cable industry’s associations and professional societies will schedule some or all of their major annual events during “Cable Connection—Spring” or “Cable Connection—Fall.”
Participating groups include the Association of Cable Communicators, Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau, the Cable Center, Cable Positive, Cable Pioneers, the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing, Cable Television Laboratories, the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications, NCTA, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, the Walter Kaitz Foundation and Women in Cable Telecommunications.
“Ours is a dynamic industry with many vibrant organizations that provide great benefits to all of us, and this strategy respects the value their programs and projects provide,” said NCTA President-CEO Kyle McSlarrow. “The realigned schedule allows member companies, participants and exhibitors to allocate time and resources more efficiently to better support these organizations and events and to enhance the value of the shared experience of our incredibly collaborative industry.”
The host city for each week of events likely will change each year, but the destination plans for 2009 have been set.
The following events will be held in Washington, D.C., over several days beginning April 2: NCTA’s Cable Show, CableLabs’ conference, SCTE’s Emerging Technologies Conference, CAB’s annual conference, NAMIC’s annual awards breakfast, WICT Leadership Conference and gala, Cable Positive Power awards dinner and the Cable Pioneers annual dinner.
Denver will play host to the fall events, beginning Oct. 25, 2009. Set so far are the CTAM Summit, CableLabs seminar, SCTE CableTEC Expo, NCTA’s board of directors meeting, Walter Kaitz Foundation’s annual dinner, NAMIC’s annual conference, the Cable Center Hall of Fame dinner and the ACC Forum.

  1. I dont really know what youre talking about here. This cant be the only way to think about this can it? It seems like you know a lot about the subject, so why not explore it more? Make it more accessible to everyone else who may not agree with you? Youd get a lot more people behind this if you just stopped making general statements.
