Fox ‘Dances’ to Ratings Win Wednesday

“So You Think You Can Dance” had Fox kicking up its ratings heels and taking the lead Wednesday night.
Two hours of “Dance” gave Fox an average of 8.8 million viewers and a 3.4 rating in the ad-magnet 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary national data from Nielsen Media Research.
NBC averaged 7.5 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 age group for the night, which started with a 90-minute “Deal or No Deal” (8.5 million viewers, 2.1 rating in the demo) and ended with the 90-minute premiere of “Celebrity Circus” (6.5 million viewers, 2.3 demo rating). “Circus” won the 10-11 p.m. hour in 18-49 and 18-34 adults and men in those age groups.
CBS started the night with an hour-long “Price Is Right” special (6.1 million viewers, 1.2 demo rating) and finished with a prime-time average of 7.9 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in the demo.
ABC’s “Men In Trees” ended its run with 4.5 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating, For the night, which started with repeats of “Wife Swap” and “Supernanny,” ABC averaged 4.2 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in the demo.
It appears that The CW audience wants “Farmer Wants a Wife.” The shomance reality show (2 million viewers, 0.8 demo rating) built off a repeat of “America’s Next Top Model” and led The CW to an average of 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 in the 18-49 demo. In the CW’s target demo of women 18-34, “Farmer” reaped a 1.1 rating.
