Mary Tyler Moore will join NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” for a multi-episode arc beginning with the show’s season premiere on Sept. 24.
Ms. Moore will play Joyce, a retired high-powered executive and the mother of Brooke Shields’ character, Wendy. Joyce will force Wendy to re-evaluate the work vs. family life dilemma and will challenge her notion of “having it all.”
“I’m fortunate to have had a front-row seat to the evolution of working women on television. It’s been great fun to watch the strong female characters of ‘Lipstick Jungle’ go at it week after week. I absolutely adore Brooke and I’m delighted to be a part of a show which is so well written,” Ms. Moore said.
Ms. Moore starred in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” which earned her four Emmy Awards. She has worked in television and film for 37 years.
“Lipstick Jungle,” which is based on the Candace Bushnell book, comes from Universal Media Studios and is executive-produced by Oliver Goldstick, Timothy Busfield and Ms. Bushnell.
