NBC, Notre Dame in 5-Year Pact

Jun 19, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The University of Notre Dame and NBC Sports plan to announce a new five-year agreement under which NBC will televise Fighting Irish home football games through 2015, the network said.
The extension provides NBC rights to eight Notre Dame home games from 2011-15, seven games at Notre Dame Stadium and an additional eighth off-site home game airing in prime time each year.
Terms were not disclosed, but NBC’s last five-year deal with Notre Dame cost $45 million. The deal will push the relationship between the college and the network to 25 years, going back to 1991.
Notre Dame is coming off its worst season in its storied history, finishing with a record of three wins and nine losses in 2007.

  1. And that last sentence should be so prominent in the questioning of this deal.
In one of the few brilliant sketches of the past season of SNL, they had a fake advertisement celebrating NBC’s exclusive deal with Notre Dame and only Notre Dame games along with the abysmal season they just had.
I’m still a little ticked that they still have the same coach, and yet, the guy he replaced was booted out of South Bend for having a record of 5-7. There were other factors as plain as the skin on your face, but I won’t go here nor there.
Notre Dame is a waste. Maybe they should go bigger and bid for the ACC.

  2. I’m wondering what WNDU (NBC16)’s role will be in this… since they pretty much have been the flagship.

  3. I’M SURE NBC WILL FIND A WAY TO MESS IT UP THEY ALWAYS DO!! THEY DO NOT COVER SPORTS WELL AT ALL!!OR ANY THING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER!! SORRY FOR THEM!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!! THAT’S MY POINT OF VIEW
