  1. I can not imagine the most exciting presidential race in years without Tim Russert. He was always such a regular guy when you would see him at any of the primary events in New Hampshire. My heart goes out to his wife and son.

  2. I had the good fortune of meeting Mr Russert in person because I work at the airport. I could not resist the urge to walk up to him to say hello. I said a quiet hello Mr. Russert and with his quick wit glanced at my name tag and with a big smile said hello Paulette, how are you today? It was like seeing an old friend and he waived again at me with both hands. He left me in awe. I went out and bought his book that day and read it. I miss his so and I’m not sure if this empitiness will ever leave me. I simply ask WHY, why him.
    Warmly….Paulett

  3. Thanks to Tim Russert, Jr., many dads in the world got longer hugs this Father’s Day. He helped us to remember that life is fleeting and that we must never fail to take time to express our love for each other. Our thoughts are with his family and his many loved ones. Rest in Peace, Tim.

  4. My thoughts and my prayers are with Tim Russert’s family– his wife, his son, his dad, his siblings, ALL of his family…
I believe that all of America felt he was part of their family. He will be so, so missed.
    What an inspiration he was.
    God Bless You, Tim!!!

  5. Tim as Bruce sang you were born to run, you lived every second of the day and used all the night oil to run down the story. You, one of the most beloved men on this earth, you simply ran into your life ran out. Now what are the rest of going to do? May the angels run to meet you in heaven- cyndie borcoman

  6. I never met Tim Russert, but I have mourned for him as if I did. Even though we never get to meet many people from the media, we get to know them each week as we watch them give us their insights into the political arena and the world. I enjoyed watching Tim Russert and looked forward to his insights regarding this year’s race. If I was getting ready for work, and he was scheduled to be on the Today show, or morning Joe on MSNBC or wherever, I stopped to hear what he had to say. He was forthright, fair, honest, and gave everything during an appearance. I will continue to be involved in politics, because Tim made us all feel that we have the right and the obligation to do so. However, I will still be waiting to hear his voice, a voice that has been stilled. Watching the election coverage or any other noteworthy news event, will never be the same without the insight and commentary of Tim Russert. Everyone in the news media has some BIG shoes to fill. My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife Maureen and son Luke. God keep you in his care as he helps you get through this difficult time. I will miss you Tim.

  7. I am sorry that Mr. Russert passed. I have been watching MTP for over 18 years. I cut my political teeth on MTP. He will be missed.

  8. I have been a political junkie since my teens. I thought I understood it, but I was wrong. Tim Russert made me understand it even more. When he looked into the camera explaining what was really going on (especially with the white board)I felt he was only speaking to me.
RIP, Tim. I just wonder how we will make through November without you…

  9. Will Mr Russert be buried somewhere, or cremated?

  10. He will be buried, as all good Catholics should be.

  11. I too have never meant Tim Russert, but I feel like a close family member has passed. When it came to politics, I knew if Tim said it that it had to be a fact and I believed it!! When it comes to family – as a single mom of an 18 year old boy, I feel like I want to be a better parent because of Tim Russert. His family is so blessed to have had a person with such integrity and commitment in their lives!!! Wow he will be missed and many prayers are with them.

  12. My husband and I have both recently retired and have been following the 2008 Presidential Election closely. We always watch MSNBC with the NBC “Dream Team” and Tim Russert in particular because we trusted him. I would comment that I wanted to hear Tim’s analysis after every primary, debate, and finally Hillary’s concession speech. We watched Meet the Press every week, even when it came on early last Sunday. His knowledge and ability to cut to the chase was remarkable. When we heard the sad news Friday afternoon, we were totally shocked. I burst in to tears as if we’d lost a family member. Not our Tim. Who would guide us through the political maze now? I cried especially for his family, big Russ, all of his colleagues…I’ve watched everything on NBC and MSNBC. This is so unfair to this country. We need Tim. There is so much I could say, but I’ll close by saying he was our friend even though we never met.I loved him for his honesty and his dedication to his faith, his family, and his country. He will be so missed…so missed.

  13. Wow! What an incredible human being was Tim Russert! He had such an uplifting presence that drew you in and made you feel like he was speaking to just you. What a lose to the world!
Let’s trust that he is working for us all from the great beyond. He has inspired us all to be better human beings.

  14. I guess God called you back so we- in this crazy society– could pause and look at your wonderful example of a what a person should be. Your impact is profound and unforgettable. God Bless Tim, and condolences to all who loved you.

  15. Men like Tim Russert inform us, inspire us, and make us grateful for the great adventures that life offers us. We’ve lost a mentor, a guide, and an unassuming hero. God bless Tim and his family, now and always.

  16. Rest in peace, Tim. We will miss you greatly.

  17. Since working as a volunteer for the RFK campaign in the spring of 1968 as a young college student at the University of Maryland, I’ve been a politics junkie. Of all of the various political journalists on television, there was no one like Tim Russert. He was absolutely THE very best, and I loved watching him whenever and wherever I could. But it was the Tim Russert who I got to know several years ago through his two beautiful books, “Big Russ and Me” and “Wisdom of Our Fathers” who really touched me and whom I will miss the most. I will miss him and all that he brought to my understanding of the world of politics for sure. However, what I will miss the most about Tim Russert are the funny and very meaningful stories that he liked to tell and the wonderful he told them; his tremendous sense of humor; his integrity; his beautiful view of life, his ability to reflect on his life and learn so much from it; his appreciation of how much his Catholic school education meant to him and his development; his childlike enthusiasm for his beloved Bills and Sabres; his faith; and his willingness to share with the world how much he loved his family, how much he loved being Big Russ’s son, and how much he loved being Luke’s father. Yes, Tim Russert was a great political journalist, but more importantly he was a beautiful person who led a truly beautiful life in every possible way. May he, his beloved family, and all of those who loved and worked with this man find peace.

  18. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire
Russert family. Tim was the catalyst for
getting involved with our political system which
yields an even stronger, better country.
Our memorial to his life will be to continue
to know the issues, the candidates so informed
decisions can be made. Still, November will be
    empty with his empty chair.

  19. An earthly life cut way too short…May Tim rest in peace with his Lord. May God grant Tim’s family His perfect peace.

  20. I have not cried like this for 25 years. He set such an example for all of us. What I once took for granted I will not anymore. I dont see how me as a news junkie can watch the election without him. May he rest in peace.

  21. Tim Russert will go down as one of the best or maybe the best Journalist in history. His dignity and integrity for his profession is 2nd to none. His role as a son, husband, and father is 2nd to none. His patriot belief for the United States is 2nd to none. He is a true 5 Star General in all of the above mentioned.
God Bless his family and god bless the United States.
    Fred Dugan

  22. ……Sunday mornings, a fresh cup of coffee
the morning paper……and my friend Tim Russert
it all went hand in hand …..that brillant,
gentle man, not a slave to fashion perhaps
but had his priorities out there for everyone
to see and learn from. His God, his family
and his country……followed closely with his
    love for politics.
In his books loud and clear was the importance of loving and caring for one another, acts of
kindness……he reminded me to take time
    for others…to listen…..and to enjoy
    this gift of life.
I cannot imagine Sundays without him let
    alone election night in November…..how
will we manage without him, not to hear his
voice, his opinion….see that Irish smile.
there will be a lump in the throats of many,
and I would guess tears from coast to coast…..we*ll miss our Tim
    God bless his family.

  23. As were millions of viewers, I was absolutely stunned to hear of Tim’s passing late Friday afternoon. It was as if I had lost a member of my family or a personal friend the hurt was so deep. He made you feel as if he were talking to you personally and that clearly came across the screen whenever he was on! I know of no one who had that magic. As I watched the “Today” show this morning with his Son, Luke on, tears came to my eyes as Tim would be so proud. But then again, he already was. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I consider myself a friend and will be watching his memorial in tribute!

  24. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Russert family. Sunday mornings will never be the same without Tim Russert. He was intelligent, quick-witted and had such a happy, jolly face. On mornings getting ready for work, I would catch him talking to Matt Lauer. I always stopped what I was doing to listen to his words. He gave me many things to think about. I will miss this man who I did not know personally, as much as I miss my dearly departed family members. God bless his dad, wife and son.

  25. I work for NBCU in NYC and never met Tim Russert, but I feel like so many others and I wish I did know him. The public gets to “know” people from TV, but just like when David Bloom died, this is so close. In fact, I found out very shortly after hearing about Tim’s death that a cousin of mine had die. However, I am more sad about Tim. He will not be forgotten and it is harder for those he left behind. God bless Tim Russert. I can’t believe you are gone.

  26. I have watched Tim for many years, and so thoroughly enjoyed / appreciated his positive, warm energy as he related to so many different guests on Meet the Press.
I did not know him, but somehow that didn’t really matter as his on screen presence was so full and alive, it was more than enough. For me, he has become a wonderful teacher of important life lessons.
What I did not understand or appreciate was the dedication and love that he shared with his colleagues at NBC. We have been shown an entirley different side of broadcast journalism….. so uplifting and encouraging for those of us in our own independent work places.
Some think that each of us dies when it is “our time”…when our appointed work has come to completion. Tim’s passing could help me embrace this idea. I have no regrets for him on his journey, but, of course, for his family that loves him … that is another story.
Eternal rest, grant unto Tim, Oh Lord.

  27. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Russert family. Sunday mornings will never be the same without Tim Russert. He was intelligent, quick-witted and was such a happy guy. I will miss this man and his valued advice on the 2008 election and the pass elections. I trusted his advice and his opinion. If Tim said it, you could depend on it. God bless his family, dad, wife and son.

  28. i just feel empty inside, i will get over this in time and eventually carry on with tim in my heart.

  29. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  30. Stupid is really as stupid does…this event is really a joke. Lindsay Lohan goes to do narcotics on account that your girl isn’t going to “get it”…The complete court process is a faiytale. Perhaps you should put the woman in some gaol in Cincinnati or some other place in Ohio where there is not any overcrowding and there’s no stupid system that repeatedly lets these folks get away with ****. At the least if the girl will probably go on to do detrimental drugs she really should be “prudent” about it and never get busted…otherwise, carry on with what you’re doing Lindsay and we should get rid of you inside Afghanistan with the seriously brave troops which have been losing their life day after day to provide you your dumb so-called “independence”.
