Sony Pictures Television Re-ups Weiser

John Weiser has been re-upped for four more years as president of distribution for Sony Pictures Television.
Mr. Weiser will oversee domestic sales operations for Sony Pictures Television, including sales of feature films produced by Sony Pictures, and first-run and off-network syndicated programs. He will also be responsible for distribution of Sony Pictures TV product to Spanish-language networks serving U.S. markets.
In addition, Mr. Weiser manages five regional offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta.
Under Mr. Weiser’s tenure, the company has extended an output deal with Starz and announced that it will co-produce and distribute the first-run talk show “Dr. Oz,” an Oprah Winfrey spinoff.
“John is in a unique position at SPT, managing so many distribution windows in a quickly changing marketplace. His relationships and expertise set him apart and his innovative thinking, such as the idea behind The Minisode Network, make him a terrific executive,” Steve Mosko, president of Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement.
Mr. Weiser joined the company in 1990 and has served as an account executive, division manager and the West Coast VP responsible for sales in the regional office.
