Warner Bros. Television Group secured distribution deals for its new ad-supported broadband video channels TheWB.com and KidsWB.com with a range of distributors, the studio announced today. The new partners are DailyMotion, Joost, Sling Media, TiVo and Veoh Networks.
The distribution deals for TheWB.com and KidsWB.com begin in mid-September.
“These new premium partnerships fit our overall digital distribution strategy by providing users the opportunity to access our content where and when they choose,” Bruce Rosenblum, president of Warner Bros. Television Group, said in a statement.
TV studios and networks increasingly are experimenting with new distribution, both for newly created content and content they already own. As traditional players move beyond the television set, most are recognizing the need to have an expansive distribution strategy. CBS, for instance, relies on its CBS Audience Network to distribute its programming online, while Hulu content is available on Hulu and across distribution partners including AOL and MSN.
The new distribution partners will offer full-length programming from The WB and Kids WB free of charge, with advertisers on board at launch.
In addition to library product, original series are planned for TheWB.com, including “Sorority Forever,” a mystery/drama from director-producer McG and Big Fantastic (“Prom Queen”).
In addition to the branded channels, Warner Bros. Television Group and the distribution partners will launch two new themed channels: Classics WBTV, featuring full-length episodes of landmark series from the Warner Bros. Entertainment library, and a Sci Fi channel offering complete episodes from the studio’s science fiction titles.

  1. Sure would be nice if they put some of those endeavors on a digital television channel, especially for those who don’t have access to broadband.

  2. Don’t worry about missing it, Thurston. It’s the WB! The only thing worse is the CW, and it’s too close to call, really.

Does KidsWB.com offer programs (The Batman, Batman Beyond, Tom and Jerry Tales, Scooby-Doo) through WOW Cable provider?
    Thanks, Sunny
