NBC to Use Olympics as Springboard

Jul 20, 2008  •  Post A Comment

NBC has decided to use the Olympics to help boost its fall rollout after
all.
In May, the network said it wouldn’t begin premiering its new shows until
Sept. 12, a few weeks after the Games end on Aug. 24. But Sunday, the
network announced a change of heart.
“Deal or No Deal” and new reality series, “America’s Toughest Jobs,” will
bow the night after the Closing Ceremonies on Monday, Aug. 25, at 8 and 9
p.m., respectively. The “Deal” episodes will be special segments designed to
boost the chances of a million-dollar winner.
The two shows will air on Mondays for four weeks, warming up the night for
the planned returns of “Heroes” and “Chuck” on Sept. 22 and 29,
respectively.
“Jobs” will shift to its previously announced 8 p.m. Friday slot on Sept.
19. NBC said “Deal” will resume airing on Wednesday and Friday nights in
October, but didn’t specify an exact date.
