“The Late Late Show’s” Craig Ferguson, who will host CBS’ “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular,” will read the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence from the Old State House in Boston.
In addition, Ferguson will give a speech from historic Faneuil Hall at Boston’s annual Independence Day celebration the morning of July 4. Each year, a person embodying the nation’s spirit of freedom is invited to speak at the ceremony. Ferguson, who became a U.S. citizen on Feb. 1, was chosen for the honor by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.
The “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” airs July 4 at 10 p.m. live ET from the Charles River Esplanade in Boston.

  1. Craig Ferguson is an excellent choice by Mayor Menino for a person embodying the spirit of freedom. He truly appreciates his US citizenship, perhaps more so than many Americans who tend to take it and the democracy it represents for granted. Ferguson has also pointed out the fact that not voting is un-American. Way to go!

  2. Congratulations to Craig Furgeson! Not only does he have a great Late Late Show, but he truly appreciates America and the great country we live in. He is an intelligent, creative comedian and writer. His first book, Between the Bridge and the River, was a best seller. I’m looking forward to his next book, a biographical, American On Purpose. Thank you Craig for loving your new country and for not being afraid to be who you are! By the way, if you want to go to sleep with a smile on your face, don’t miss his show on CBS after Letterman. He’s addictive!

  3. Seem right that the Mr. Ferguson, who has adopted our country as his own, should read part of the declaration of freedom that many a Scot fought for. This really was a great choice. Thanks to the Mayor of Boston for making July 4th a “Great day in America!” for all of us.
Looking forward to seeing Mr. Ferguson on CBS July 4th Special.
    Happy Independence Day,

PS So, ladies at TWoP, is there a wedding or not? Prayers to WC and her friends. LOL I mean that SCF.

  4. I am so thrilled that Craig Ferguson will be hosting the 4th of July celebration from Boston. His late show is by far the best on television and he has talked endlessly on what an honor it is to be a new American! How appropriate that he should be reading the Declaration of Independence. Any chance that the speech he gives in Faneuil Hall will end up on the internet? I would love to see it. He is an articulate and moving speaker (see his tribute to his father and his comments on the 5th anniversary of 9/11 on You Tube). Congratulations to Boston’s mayor for making such an excellent choice. I can’t wait to see the program. Happy 4th of July to you and yours!
