Telemundo, the Spanish-language network owned by NBC Universal, is moving all its digital assets under a newly created division, the Digital Media and Emerging Businesses Division.
Peter Blacker has been promoted to executive VP of the new unit. Mr. Blacker, a three-year veteran of Telemundo who has been senior VP of Telemundo Network Group Digital Media, will report to Telemundo Chief Operating Officer Jacqueline Hernandez.
In addition to Telemundo and mun2’s custom-branded entertainment and digital and mobile cross-platform products, the new division will house Yahoo! Telemundo, holamun2.com, International Digital Media and Telemundo Emerging Platforms.
Mr. Blacker also will advise Telemundo’s local stations on digital matters.
Telemundo’s digital properties currently stream more than 9 million videos per month, according to Monday’s announcement by Ms. Hernandez.
“Research indicates that Hispanics over-index on digital and mobile usage,” Ms. Hernandez said in the announcement. “Such findings, coupled with Telemundo’s unique original content capabilities across all screens, provide the perfect formula for delivering a comprehensive media strategy. Peter’s leadership in this space continues to take Telemundo to the next level while further positioning the network as a major industry player that can produce and distribute top-tier content on all platforms to both our advertisers and audience.”
