  1. Excellent speech by Michelle Obama.
We missed the speech of Ted Kennedy and would like to have a complete replay of the tribute to him.
We would like to know why having been a Prisoner of War qualifies Mr. McCain to be President of the United States. We all appreciate his service to his country, but do not see how that makes him an expert on the military or on world affairs. But his experiences as a prisoner of war are the main thing he talks about in his campaign, nothing about any ideas to remedy the problems of the country.
McCain’s disagreement with Bush on issues is mostly fictitious–and very hypocritical! He has since acted as if he is a strong supporter of ALL Bush policies. As has been stated, McCain would be like a third term of George Bush.
Another question, when it was reported that our country was paying a great deal of money to the Iraqis to not attack, so it would appear that the “Surge” was successful, why was it not in the news day after day, instead of just once!!!

  2. I really enjoyed Hillary’s speech last night. Tell me why are the news media focusing mainly on the “small” group of Hillary supporters that will never vote for Senator Obama? Are you all not aware that they are republican cross-overs, or are you just filling air time? Some of us democrates would like to see and hear from the mainstream democrate delegates that are at the convention to be energized and let Senator Obama know that they are willing to continue to work their hearts out for him. Let the public that could not attend the convention see the real convention. Stop your negative questions and remarks – over and over again! It is obvious CNN stands for the “Clinton news network”, but let’s get on with the real show – “OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!”

  3. I am watching the Democratic Convention from Canada with amazement and great interest. From the beginning I have bet on Obama and I sincerely believe that he should win. He is good for the image of the USA, the land of opportunities as viewed throughout the world.
The greatest change will be achieved, when we no longer have to talk about race, but see Obama /or any man of colour/ as a man of inteligence, of integrity.
I wish and hope that Obama would become an effective and successful leader of United States of America.
    Sincerely, Eva.

  4. Barack Obama brought life to politics, something that has been missing. For the last hundred years all we have heard is political retoric, lies and misleading statements.
Barack brought me and America into politics, he made it personal. I am sixty year old and have never voted before, we can all thank Barack obama, for bringing myself and many others young and senior into the political process.
I believe Barack Obama too be the leader who can effect change in America. With his charisma ans speech making abilities, he can lead this country back to the world leader that we have been in the past.

  5. The selection of Sarah Palin as Senator McCaine’s VP running mate is very revealing about his personal character and his potenrial as chief executive. It reaffirms one of his own confessions regarding a persoal weakness– the tendency to pander to selected groups for the sake of getting elected . He maintains that he has always considered his country over everything else. With Senator McCain already in the 70s, selecting a relatively inexperienced individual (another oil person, too) primarily on the basis of a profile that fits the evangelical wing of the party is clearly pandering to be elected and seriously jeopardizing the welfare of the American citizenry. His selection to appease woman voters is in this case tokenism and insulting to the women of America. Any self respecting woman would see the transparency here. This was not a carefully considered decision in the best interests of the country; however, it does give us an insight as to how he is likely to decide the issues he confronts as President McCain. As we have seen with President’s Bush’s nominees and appointments, McCain is ready to travel down the same path. In these very critical times we cannot afford a carbon copy of Bush, whose adminstration and party gave us this mess. As an independent, who once saw Senator McCain as a maverick, I see one very big con job coming up!!

  6. Although the CNN commentators didn’t get it (they thought McCain’s speech was touting himself as an American hero — which was not his point), John McCain clearly spoke to the American people with the message that he has grown out of his old Lt. Colonel viewpoint of self-centeredness (a viewpoint which Obama still embraces) and has become a man totally dedicated to serving a country which he and his family dearly love and have given their lives for. Because John McCain is both a servant of this great country and a leader who has historically taken the morally right, “country-first” choices, no matter how difficult, he alone stands as the presidential candidate we can and should trust to be our next president.

  7. john mccain cheated on his first wife and lied until he was confronted. he will lie and cheat the american people,if he was not honest then ,how can we trust hem now.

  8. john mccain suffered so much when he was a pow. but all those family members of those who died in vietnam suffered so much unending pain,i know first hand,i lost a brother in vietnam.no greater pain.

  9. We all thank John McCain for his duty in the service. And as a man that once fought for our country he should be one of the first members in the government fighting to help so many of the men and women that also fought for our country as well. I’ve never heard anything about him trying to help these people, if he suffered so greatly as so many claim he did, then he ought to know what these home less vets are going though. He ought to have the heart to sell maybe two of his houses and give the money to his fellow man that are in such need (look around their not hard to find). And why in the world would someone like McCain vote with Bush for such a senseless war to take place if he suffered so greatly in his time of service. He of all people should’ve been against it but what can you say when oil & money is what they were after all along.

  10. I would like to know when CNN is going to stop force feeding America, Sarah Palin??? I go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning with CNN showing Sarah Palin. Gov.Palin hasn’t made not one single statement of her own and you treat her like she really can stand on the same podium as Sen. Hiliary Clinton.
I always watch CNN because I felt that each political party was getting fair treatment. But
lately it has been a turn off, because I feel the Republican party is trying to force Sarah Palin on us ,just like they force the Iraq war on us
    with lies.

  11. JUDGEMENT!
John MCCAIN has shown over and over, that he is impulsive and does not act in a manner that is well thought out. He is poorly educated and does not understand history, economics, and his choice of vice presidential candidate is outright dangerous. I am a physician, and in my opinion, his health is very precarious and the idea that he would leave us with a woman (I am a woman) as primitive in her thought processes and so poorly educated, is just FRIGHTENING!
I AM OUTRAGED BY THE APPROACH OF THE MACCAIN CAMPAIGN.
BARAK OBAMA IS AN OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL AND I CAN’T
IMAGINE THAT ANYONE WITH TWO NEURONS TO RUB TOGETHER COULD CONSIDER VOTING FOR ANY OTHER CANDIDATE. SENATOR BIDDEN UNDERSTANDS FOREIGN POLICY AND IS WISE AND I AM CONFIDENT IN HIS ABILITY TO LEAD, GOD FORBID, THIS SHOULD BE NECESSARY.
THE WAR IRAQ IS ILLEGAL AND IMMORAL AND HAS DEPLETED OUR RESOURCES AND LEFT US IN A STATE OF DIRE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE! WE CANNOT RESCUE OURSELVES, WE ARE CLOSE TO GOING DOWN THE DRAIN. THE CHINESE CAN FIGURE OUT, WHY CAN’T WE?
SENATOR MCCAIN WILL CONTINUE A STUPID WAR BECAUSE THIS IS A REPETITION COMPULSION TO MASTER HIS PAST EXPERIENCE. THE VIIET NAM WAR IS OVER AND WE DID NOT WIN, SO WHAT?
GEORGE BUSH IS IN THE OIL BUSINESS AND HE EVEN FAILED AS THAT. HE DID NOT GET THE OIL IN IRAG WHICH IS THE ONY REASON I CAN THINK OF THAT WOULD HAVE LEAD US DOWN SUCH A DEVASTATING PATH.
BLAME GEORGE BUSH AND HIS CRONIES AND FOR OUR ECONOMIC CATASTROPHE. I JUST WONDER WHAT PLANET THEY THINK THEY ARE GOING TO LIVE ON WHEN THE NEXT CATASTROPHE HAPPENS. EVEN THE OUTRAGEOUSLY RICH WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ESCAPE THIS INEVITABILITY.

  12. To Whom it May Concern:
I feel strongly that the SEC has not done it’s job- therefore, he should be fired……..
Certainly NOT put in charge of the bailout.
    Josie West

  13. They gave the fat cats on Wall Street 700-850 billion dollars. Thats like asking the fox to watch the chicken coop. It was their greed that got us into this mess in the first place. If you really want to get this economy going, congress should give every legal American, that pay taxes, 100,000- 200,000 each, which will cost alot less than the 700-850 billion. People will then have to convert these bad loans to good loans, they will buy up the glut of houses, they will repair their houses, buy cars, tv’s, and the list goes on. It will help the housing industry, keep people employed and working. The economy will be buzzing again and most of these problems will get corrected as it will help everyone, not the geedy fat cats on wall street who pay themselfs 500,000 million dollar bonuses.

  14. IT IS CLEAR THAT OBAMA HAS OWN THIS SECOND DEBATE ALSO.MR.McCAIN IS JUST TOO OLD TO STAND WITH A GOOD POSTURE AND HE EVEN GETS SHORT OF BREADTH WHICH YOU COULD HEAR THORUGH MICROPHONE SO MY RECOMMENDATIONI IS THAT McCAIN HAS SERVED HIS COUNTRY AND EVEN WENT TO PRISON AND DID LOT OF GOOD THINGS FOR THE MILTARY BUT NOW IT IS TIME HE NEEDS TO RETIRE PEACEFULY AND GRACEFULLY AND LET THE OLD SCHOOL DAYS GO AND WE NEED NEW SCHOOL DAYS WITH NEW YOUNG BLOOD NOW.THUMBS UP TO OBAMA.I DO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE NOT COME OUT WITH SOLUTIONS OF THE PROBLEMS OF THIS COUNTRY BUT WE NEED TO HAVE THAT HOPE AND FAITH IN OBAMA.COUNTRY IS IN A VERY BAD MESS AND IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO RECOVER.

  15. OBAMA WON THIS SECOND DEBATE AND AFTER WATCHING THIS, I LIKE TO SEE McCAIN RETIRE.HE CAN’T STAND WITH A GOOD POSTURE AND HE GETS SHORT OF BREADTH.
AMERICA NEEDS NEW SCHOOL, YOUNG BLOOD AND NEW IDEAS AND OBAMA WILL DO THAT FOR SURE.

  16. To Janice Friend and whoever else agrees with her, do you think if we did not defend our country by bringing the war over seas that it wouldnt come back here like on 9/11? Anytime a country is at war the economy suffers, that is the cost of freedom. Freedom isnt free. Being able to go shopping, or grab a coffee at a nearby starbucks or go to a movie or any public place without the fear of a terroist attack is called freedom! and it comes with a price! Is the war the only thing that you have to bash McCain with and the republicans. Did you ever think that mabey when Clinton(democratic) approved to send Jobs over seas that just mabey that has had a major impact on our country?? How can a countries economy thrive/boom when people are loosing there jobs due to businesses outsourcing them to other countries? Its common sense. What we are experiencing in this time of day is from decissions that were made many years before Bush jr. was in office. That and the fact that we are not drilling off shore to create more fuel and to decreese the suply and demand problem so we can lower the cost per barrel are two of the main issues that need to be delt with. Not that we are defending our country so we can have our freedom here in the USA. Yes we could have gone about it in a better way mabey or we could change some things that we are doing now, but overall, keeping the war across seas is the only way we will keep it from coming back to our door steps, So we can type our opinions in the comfort of our homes and sleep easy at night. We need more God in our country as well. We need to remember what this country was founded on and not be so quick to take God out of the picture. George bush is not the reason our gas prices are so hi, and he isnt the only one who has his hand in the cookie jar. Have you read the book ” Obamination”? if not you should so you can read about the truth behind Obama and his past history and who he is all about, instead of just listening to the media for false imformation and this brain washing about ” Change” Obviously we need change. But that is the reason to just vote Obama. Thats what is happening tho, people just see the message change without knowing what the change will really be or really knowing what Obama really is all about.
I want to know why neither canidates has addressed the issue about our American jobs being sent over seas??
OH and i know im not the best speller, so save it.
I love what Ryan Janan has to say by the way. Thats “common sense” to bad its so uncommon.
As far as the Palin comment, are you serious?? All the media is pushing on americans is CHANGE, vote for Obama cause he says we need change! We allready know we need change! DUH! Do you see McCain in the last name BUSH??? Nope, thats change also.
Mr. Booker, McCain isnt the only one with more then one home. Is that all you people can talk about is the war and the oil? Really?
Mr Byers, I couldnt say it better myself.
Mr. Hart, i do agree, Obama has brought a new audiance to politics, and he is a good speaker who talks about chabge, but thats it.

  17. Correction, The book to read is “The Obama Nation” by Jerome R. Corsi

  18. First, as for the 2nd debate I believe Obama won again. He has a confident, calm air about him, very presidential, held himself well, made direct eye contact w/McCain and didn’t seem bothered by any of McCain’s personal attacks or attacks on his record. After fact-checking, once again McCain spoke more loosely, not always right concerning what he said about Obama, while Obama stuck more to the issues and was more accurate in what he said concerning McCain and his record.
Second- who do I relate to more, who understands the middle class more? Let’s take it all the way to the absurd and say both senator’s homes faced foreclosure. If that happened, Obama would be homeless, and McCain could just move in to one of his several other homes and would be just fine. I’m going for the guy who would face homelessness, believing that, in his position, he has a better understanding of the middle class and the situation it’s in and the losses faced, many times more than I believe McCain ever could
I found Obama standing tall, he appeared cool, calm, cool, and collected and never went on the attack in the angry way that McCain did. After watching and listening to information from reading their faces, which is something new, but Obama scored higher there, too. McCain, “often frowned…appeared angry and frustrated…” while Obama appeared, “more presidential” and more at ease than McCain. In his years in the senate, McCain helped to get us where we are within and without the country.
Finally, how can anyone, and I do mean everybody, spend five years in a whole just big enough for him to fit in, without enough food or water, interrogated with torture every day until, as he himself said, “they broke me.”. That’s five years of nights without sleep due to too much pain and wondering what they’ll do to him the following day. How could anyone alive survive that without any emotional damage and baggage? I feel he could possibly snap at any time. And I don’t see being captured, as the actions of a true war hero. War heroes capture, they don’t get captured themselves. And would someone please explain to me, why getting taken prisoner and somehow surviving makes him a war hero. It makes him an ex P.O.W. who was more fortunate than too many others and came home on his feet instead of in a casket. You’d think his experience would make him more of, “a dove”, than, “a hawk”.
The thought of McCain and Palin running this country scares the you know what out of me. It would be enough to make me consider moving to B.C., since I live in Seattle. Or get down to a good neighborhood in Mexico. I would be embarrassed for our country’s ignorance and how it appeared to how the rest of the world, which would see us as less than they already do, deserving less respect than all we have already lost while Bush ran the country, with McCain’s almost completet support. I am not up for four more years of what we’ve endured over the last eight years. I’m ready for change. I’m just hoping that, in the last debate, Obama will lay out his plans in more detail because I think it would be more in his favor, as I believe McCain will continue with his evasive, “old fashioned” talk and obviously disdaining Obama with more personal attacks. As he watches the presidency slipping further and further from his reach, his panic will do him in and I’ll celebrate that when it happens. I believe Barak Obama will be our next president, we wil have taken a giant leap forward, electing a bi-racial president to lead our land. My only concern is the deep seated prejudice spread out across the country. I truly hope that, as a country we can overcome that out-dated bias toward color of skin and elect a man, raised by a white middle class grandmother, who was born to his American mother, who was born within the borders of our land of freedom. McCain has stated that he will overturn Roe V Wade, Palin might dictate to what extent, while Obama has the passion and understanding to allow a woman her rights she’s had for the last 34 or 35 years.
Basically, McCain will take us into the past while Obama will bring us into the future. And I much prefer the latter over the former. With everything that I am. And then some. Go Obama!

  19. I listened to rick sanchez this afternoon and he showed some bitter scenes from voters out there.. I also heard sara (the attack dog) palins speech.. she is inciting violence out there and should be ashamed of herself!!!! she has constantly done this from the first rally in pennsylvania where a man shouted shoot him!! this I heard but i also researched it on my computer!!!!!so i know it IS true..!! shame shame.. the mc cain campaign is getting out of hand..
