Lifetime Networks has appointed JoAnn Alfano as executive vice president of entertainment, effective immediately. Ms. Alfano will oversee programming and scheduling for Lifetime Television, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women.
Ms. Alfano was previously an executive producer of “30 Rock” and the president of her production company, TV Tray Entertainment. She also served as NBC Studios’ vice president of prime-time series, helping to develop such shows as “Will & Grace,” “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” “Scrubs,” “Ed,” “Profiler” and “Providence.”
“As an accomplished and seasoned executive, JoAnn understands television from both the network and production perspective,” Andrea Wong, president and CEO of Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “Over her career, she has compiled an extensive record of success in comedies and dramas, and forged strong relationships with top-flight talent within the creative community. JoAnn has the ideal combination of creative instincts and leadership skills to develop our next generation of series and movies.”
Susanne Daniels, who resigned as Lifetime’s entertainment president in June, will stay on as a consultant to Lifetime Networks.
