Internet Searches for ‘Palin’ Soar

Sarah Palin is the most searched-for political figure on the Internet in the last three years as measured by volume of searches in a one-week period, according to Hitwise.
For the week ending Aug. 30, Internet searches for Alaska’s governor were nearly four times as popular as searches for Barack Obama, eight times as popular as searches for John McCain and 10 times as popular as searches for Joe Biden, according to Hitwise. Her weekly spike is the greatest for a political figure in one week online, Hitwise said.
In addition, as of today, there were nearly 17.5 million Google results for her name, up nearly 15 million since Sept. 1, according to online tracking service Trendrr. Also, her name now yields more than 70,000 Google news results, up from 25,000 on Sept. 1.
