NBC Universal will conduct its third annual “Comedy Short Cuts” Diversity Film Festival on Sept. 15 as part of the New York Television Festival. Fifteen semifinalist filmmakers will be honored during the event, which will be sponsored by Showbiz Software, American Airlines and the Coca-Cola Co.
Universal Media Studios will reward one of the filmmakers with a pilot script commitment.
“Comedy Short Cuts” is a part of NBC’s Talent Diversity Initiative. Selections are made by a committee of executives from NBC, Universal Media Studios, Sci Fi, Bravo, USA, Oxygen, Focus Features and Rogue Pictures.
“We are proud to continue our tradition of supporting this influential film festival that encourages innovative young filmmakers and enhances our vital diversity program. Equally important is that we provide a marquee venue that will allow their hard work to be seen by prominent industry executives who are always looking for wonderful new talent,” Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, said in a statement.
