Entertainment Studios Launch Six HD Nets
Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios, an independent producer and distributor of first-run syndicated content, is launching six targeted HD channels through Verizon’s FiOS TV, the company said. The six channels, Cars.tv, Pets.tv, Comedy.tv, Mydestination.tv, Es.tv and Recipe.tv, are expected to launch on FiOS later this year.
‘Godfather’ Gets Made … in Blu-ray
Blu-ray made it an offer it couldn’t refuse: “The Godfather” trilogy made the jump to the HD disc format, landing in stores Sept. 23, Hi-Def Digest reports. Coming in at $119.95, the set was restored under the supervision of Francis Ford Coppola himself, along with director of photography Gordon Willis and restoration expert Robert A. Harris.
PlayStation Store Holds to Strict Courtesy Download Policy
Customers purchasing movies on the PlayStation Store through Sony PlayStation 3s need to heed the Digital Rights Management fine print, as purchased content can only be re-downloaded once, and then only after contacting Sony, Ars Technica reports. Downloaded material cannot be transferred between machines, even when installing a larger hard drive, meaning purchased content could be lost if the system’s hard drive gets too full.
MGM HD Strikes Deal with Bright House Networks
MGM HD signed a carriage agreement with Bright House Networks to begin bringing the 24-hour HD network to customers in larger markets like Tampa Bay, Orlando, Indianapolis, Bakersfield, Birmingham and Detroit, MGM said. The carriage deal will expand MGM HD to an additional 2.4 million customers.
‘Oprah,’ ‘Phil,’ ‘ET,’ ‘Insider’ Jump to HD
Viewers of CBS Television Distribution’s lineup might be seeing things more clearly, as “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Dr. Phil,” “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider” made the move to high definition for the first time this season. CBS said renovations and technology overhauls were needed in all four shows to bring them up to HD quality. These shows join CBS’ “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!” in HD, which were the first two syndicated shows to make the quality leap in September 2006.

  15. City of Melbourne is quantity one. The depth of their redesign was wonderful, and its applications across all media is each fresh and practical. I am not sure if AOL meets the identical amount of usefulness. Sure, it really is a step more than the preceding layout, but simply how much much more so? And to what end? Nicely, that may be my two cents. Peace.
