HD programming picks for Sept. 11-17: “Lilies of the Field”/“They Call Me Mr. Tibbs!,” “The Shining,” “No Country for Old Men”
“Lilies of the Field”/“They Call Me Mr. Tibbs!” (MGMHD). Fri., Sept. 12, 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Double feature stars Sidney Poitier, first as a church builder for Eastern European nuns, then as a San Francisco cop.
“The Shining” (HBO). Sun., Sept. 14, 8:30 p.m. Jack Nicholson stars as a family man who flips out at a snowed-in inn. Stanley Kubrick directed the 1980 film, which is based on a Stephen King novel.
“No Country for Old Men” (Starz). Tues., Sept. 16, 9 p.m. Last year’s Best Picture Oscar winner features Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem, whose Anton Chigurh wreaks havoc across West Texas. Directed by the Coen brothers.
