Online video portal AOL Television plans to premiere an interview-style Web series on Oct. 1 dubbed “Outside of the Box” that will cast popular TV stars interviewing each other using fan-submitted questions.
The debut episode will feature “Private Practice” stars Kate Walsh, Taye Diggs, Audra McDonald and Tim Daly, while future episodes include stars from “Desperate Housewives,” “Life on Mars,” “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Scrubs.”
This is not the first Web series to feature celebrities interviewing each other. ABC.com ran a Web show in the spring in which stars of ABC prime-time shows played the role of journalist.
The AOL Web show is significant though because it crosses star power with user-generated content. Fans will create and submit the questions during the interviews.
AOL said each episode will last no more than 10 minutes and also include comical outtakes and viral clips.
AOL Television draws more than 14 million unique visitors a month, according to comScore.
