How badly will the economic downturn affect stations through 2009?
“Every broadcaster is looking at ways to operate differently, to trim costs, knowing that we’re probably in this for a longer period than any of us would like. I had an outlook for what ’09 and early ’10 might bring two months ago when we started putting budgets together. That outlook is different today. Nobody sensed that it would be as bad as it is right now. If people can’t get loans for cars and the manufacturers continue to have the challenges that they face in just operating, you know, the cost structure and all that, the TV business (and all media) is going to be very difficult.”
