Video: Execs Offer Their Take on Innovation

Oct 20, 2008  •  Post A Comment

A panel of high-level media executives convened last week in New York for Innovation 360, presented by TelevisionWeek. Examining the complex challenges of guiding their various companies during tough economic times were Bruce Campbell, president of digital media and corporate development for Discovery Communications; Barry Frey, senior VP of advance platform sales for Cablevision; Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics and executive VP of strategic partnerships for NBC Sports; Mike Steib, director of TV advertising for Google; and Page Thompson, CEO of OMD North America.

While the perspectives varied, some common themes emerged, including placing a high priority on the needs of the consumer and avoiding the notion of innovation for its own sake. Also on the execs’ minds was stewardship over existing platforms and business relationships, along with the pursuit of an effective and engaging advertising model that makes use of digital distribution opportunities in a responsible way.
