Sunday night’s “60 Minutes,” featuring the first post-election interview with President-elect Barack Obama, drew the program’s largest audience since January 1999 and the largest television audience of the season so far.
The interview attracted 25.1 million viewers, giving the program a first-place finish in viewers, households (15.1/23), adults 25-54 (8.1/18) and adults 18-49 (6.3/16), according to final national data from Nielsen Media Research. The interview was bolstered in part by NFL overrun.
The interview is also the most streamed video since the creation of the “60 Minutes” news site at CBSNews.com.
CBS Mobile reported five times the average traffic for streams of the interview on mobile phones.
CBS also won Sunday night in viewers with episodes of “The Amazing Race,” “Cold Case” and “The Unit,” garnering 16.59 million viewers for the night and placing in first in households (10.2/16).

  1. It helped to have the 10-0 Tennessee Titans leading into the show in most areas, then going to the Steelers/Chargers final moments.

  2. His wife was very condesending and contridicted everything he said. She thinks SHE’S the president elect and answers questions that are given to him. I was embarassed just listening to her. She thinks she can be another Jackie Kennedy..well..guess what..she’s no where near it. She just put down everything he said and tried to take over. I DONT LIKE HER ONE BIT. She’s annoying. She needs to step off her high horse and realize that SHE was not elected President.

  3. I can’t believe what some viewers see when they watch a program. What program was Linners watching? because they were not watching the same 60 minutes I was watching. Condesending I dont’t thing so.Taking over the show, when? Putting down her husband, come on. What high horse? It is this sort of attitude that is amazing in this day and age.Sense of humor ? yes or don’t you get it?

  4. They worked in tandem quite well. It’s as good as Burns & Allen, but better! I loved it when she asked if he were going to drive the girls to school in the morning! LOL!! The president-elect of the free world carpooling . . . now that’s funny!
Michelle did not take over. She was merely doing what most wives do with their husbands, remind them how to clarify what they think they’re trying to say!!
    LOL!!!!

  5. I agree with you John. I found her poised, intelligent and witty. Further she appearted to be loving and supportive of her husband and her children. All the things we need in a first lady. When you add her sense humor it’s the complete package! I don’t think she’s going to be a reincarnation of Jackie O. She had her place and time, and is forever our icon. However, I think Michelle is going to have to cut her own way, and she appears to be more than up for the task of creating a vision of a first lady for our times.

  6. What a wonderful twist! A President Elect who can articulate his thoughts, plans, hopes and his homelife.
After the last nearly eight years of contrite verbal stumbling…followed by nothing substantive from our “Commander-be-Lost” White House occupant, oxygen is returning to my lungs!
I’ve been holding my breath so long hoping to get through one created debacle after another from Bush and his co-conspirators, the red is starting to turn to pink in my tired, sore eyes.
My sleaves are rolled up to join with the President Elect to begin cleaning up the messes Cheney, Bush & CO. have left for us.
But make no mistake, due process WILL be applied to assess the damages and WHO is responsible. Mis-deeds and the perpetrators of same WILL be pursued and subject to all applicable laws. This we must do, or this recent history, (or worse), will be repeated.
God Bless our nation, our recovery efforts and our new Administration.
Now, get a mop, a broom, a dust pan and summon the Grand Jury!

  7. Don’t forget Peter, as awful as I write this, GW has the right to basically pardon himself and all others involved before he leaves office on the 20th…don’t think for a minute he won’t do something like this…constitution be damned…it stinks but what can we do??

  8. Robb C.:
Your point is well taken. Forty years ago we had “Tricky Dick” Nixon. For the last nearly eight years we’ve been plagued with “Tricky Dick” Cheney.
Absolutely nothing these traitors do surprises me. Their arrogance is…like nothing I have ever witnessed, or read about in any part of recorded history.
Speaking of history, may we fully record their mis-deeds to hopefully instill in those who follow a proper understanding of how NOT to govern and how not to act as human beings.
