ABC Leads Broadcast Nets in Election Viewing

ABC’s coverage of Election Night was the most-watched of the four broadcast networks from 8 to 11 p.m. Tuesday, a position the network has not held on a presidential Election Night since 1996.
According to fast national data, adjusted for time zone differences, from Nielsen Media Research. ABC averaged 13.14 million total viewers. NBC averaged 12.02 million viewers. CBS averaged 7.83 million. Fox Broadcasting coverage averaged 5.14 million.
ABC’s total viewership Tuesday during prime time was up 9% from Election Night 2004. NBC was down 18%. CBS was down 14%. Fox Broadcasting was up 29%.
Still to come are the national ratings for the cable news channels in prime time Tuesday.
