Meier Joins OWN as Senior VP, Scheduling

OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network has tapped Jeffrey Meier as senior vice president of scheduling, acquisition and strategy.

Mr. Meier will be responsible for negotiating acquisition deals, collaborating on original programming and managing content for alternate program platforms.
Mr. Meier previously was acting head of programming for TVOne, where he acquired and scheduled the 30th anniversary rebroadcast of “Roots.”
He has worked as a programming executive at Packetvideo Corp. and as VP of programming and scheduling for Telemundo Network Group, in addition to serving as director of programming, research and development for Columbia TriStar International Television.
Mr. Meier also ran his own consulting business, which worked with Lionsgate Entertainment, Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment and E! International.
“Jeff’s exceptional skill for creating strategic schedules and programming events is exactly what I was looking for with this position,” Robin Schwartz, president of OWN, said in a statement. “His enthusiasm and sheer passion for programming will help to make OWN the best viewing experience that it can be.”
