Co-President Harold Akselrad has decided to leave HBO after 25 years, the network announced Tuesday.
Mr. Akselrad recently concluded negotiations with several of the studios that supply the pay cable network with theatrical movies.
“After 25 years, I am grateful to be able to say that I have achieved all that I set out to achieve at HBO and received from the experience more than I could have hoped,” Mr. Akselrad, who originally joined HBO as associate counsel for litigation, said in a statement. “I leave with confidence, knowing that strong, capable and dedicated people are in place to continue to move the company forward. I am very much looking forward to this new and exciting chapter in my life.”
Bill Nelson, chairman and CEO of HBO said Mr. Akselrad’s “positive influence on HBO will continue for many years to come” and praised his understanding of how business, technology and the law interact.
