‘Exterminator’ Seeks Killer Ratings for A&E

Dec 9, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Looking to eat Animal Planet alive, A&E Network is launching a show that takes on out-of-place alligators, pet-eating bobcats and a stadium full of bats—and not the wooden kind.
“The Exterminators” launches with 13 episodes starting Feb. 4 on A&E. The program follows a family of exterminators, led by Billy Bretherton. Their company, Vexcon, is one of Louisiana’s busiest pest-removal companies, and drama ensues as they try to balance family life with running a business.
The series follows some of the company’s more extreme cases of critters being where they’re not supposed to be. This season, that includes colonies of ants and giant snakes.
At the same time, the Brethertons try to catch and release, rather than kill, the pests they remove.
“Billy and his family offer the unique blend of drama and humor, which viewers have come to expect from our stable of real families in extraordinary situations,” said Robert Sharenow, senior VP for nonfiction and alternative programming at A&E. “‘The Exterminators’ fits perfectly with our brand of eye-opening real-life series such as ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ and ‘Gene Simmons Family Jewels,’ representing remarkable personal stories in an entertaining but raw and honest way.”
Mr. Bretherton is a former U.S. Air Force sergeant who has been in the pest-management industry for 15 years. While taking a military approach to pest situations, his concern for animals sets him apart from others in the business.
No matter the assignment, whether it’s an 8-foot alligator walking down the street or baby raccoons in his office, the Brethertons manage to get the job done with skill, energy and humor, the network says.
“The Exterminators” is produced for A&E by September Films, a division of DCD Media. Jeff Collins and Sheldon Lazarus are executive producers for September Films.

  1. I caught the first show last wednesday night Feb. 4th and thought it was great. Billy is great with the animals & etc that he is dealing with and tries to relocate any that he can back into nature.
The way the family balances work with family situations is very interesting and it makes me want to watch each show that I can. So bring on the rest of the series and I’ll be there with all my friends watching….
