NBC’s ‘Today’ Rules; ‘Meet the Press’ Holds Steady

NBC morning news programs continue to lead in ratings, as last week’s “Today” and Sunday’s “Meet the Press” performances top their respective time slots.
“Today” marked its 680th consecutive week at No. 1 for the week ending Dec. 21, averaging 6 million viewers. NBC beat out ABC’s “Good Morning America” by 1.16 million viewers and CBS’ “The Early Show” by 2.5 million viewers.
Among households, “Today” posted a 4.6 rating/15 share for the week, followed by “Good Morning America” (3.6/12) and “Early Show” (2.6/9).
NBC’s “Meet the Press With David Gregory” continued its strong performance from the prior week, leading the Sunday morning news pack with 4.78 million viewers on Dec. 21. ABC’s “This Week” ranked second with 3.67 million viewers, followed by CBS’ “Face the Nation” with 3.124 million viewers and “Fox News Sunday” with 1.57 million viewers.
“Press” posted a 3.3/9 among households, slightly down from its debut week’s numbers of 3.4/9. The show was followed by “This Week” (2.6/7), “Nation” (2.2/6) and “Fox News Sunday” (1.1/3).
NBC’s Sunday morning win marks the 115th consecutive win for the network and its 475th out of the last 476 weeks when everyone was at full coverage. The Dec. 21 episode of “Meet the Press” marked Mr. Gregory’s second as moderator.
