Univision’s N.Y. Station Wins Early Weekend News Race

Univision New York affiliate WXTV Channel 41 has taken the top spot in local early weekend news viewership among all key demographics, not only for Spanish-language TV but for all channels in the area.
WXTV has been No. 1 among early weekend news programs in viewers ages 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54, according to Nelsen Station Index Local People Meter numbers for the first two Saturdays and Sundays in December.
On Saturdays “Noticiero Univision Fin de Semana” at 6:30 p.m. has beaten WCBS-TV Channel 2 among ages 18-49 (110,000 viewers vs. 53,000 viewers) and 18-34 (47,000 vs. 31,000), and WABC-TV Channel 7 among ages 25-54 (122,000 vs. 71,000).
Sunday night’s WXTV 6 p.m. local news edged out WABC in all three age groups (18-49: 148,000 vs. 109,000, 18-34: 68,000 vs. 37,000, 25-54: 156,000 vs. 127,000), as well as 6:30 p.m. (18-49: 159,000 vs. 86,000, 18-34: 69,000 vs. 34,000, 25-54: 160,000 vs. 102,000).
