WGA Awards Nominees Announced

The Writers Guild of America has announced the nominees for its annual awards in the television, news, radio, graphic animation and promotional writing categories.
Nominees in the dramatic series category include the writing teams for Showtime’s “Dexter,” NBC’s “Friday Night Lights,” ABC’s “Lost,” AMC’s “Mad Men” and HBO’s “The Wire.”
The writing teams nominated in the comedic series category represent NBC’s “30 Rock” and “The Office,” HBO’s “Entourage,” Fox’s “The Simpsons” and Showtime’s “Weeds.”
Writing teams for new series receiving nods are AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” Fox’s “Fringe,” HBO’s “In Treatment” and “True Blood” and ABC’s “Life on Mars.”
Among individual episodes, “Breaking Bad” received recognition for two episodes and “30 Rock” for three, while Fox dominated the animation episode category with four nominations for “The Simpsons” and two for “King of the Hill.”
The 2009 Writers Guild Awards will be announced on Feb. 7 in Los Angeles and New York.
