Advertisers Eager to Take Part in Event

After raking in revenues and ratings during the election season, the cable news networks appear set for a last hurrah as Barack Obama is inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States.
CNN said Exxon, Sprint and Cisco had signed up for advertising packages as official inauguration sponsors on the network.
Terms of those deals were not disclosed.
Those companies, as well as Paramount Pictures and Anheuser-Busch, will be presenting integrated campaigns over CNN’s television and digital platforms, the network said.
The inauguration, which is expected to draw a much bigger audience than the one four years ago, also attracted Abar Hutton Healthcare, which is new to CNN; Quiznos, which hadn’t advertised on the news network since 2004; and EMI Records, last on CNN in 1999.
Also buying spots in the cable network’s inauguration coverage were Chevron, Universal Pictures, Brother, Vestas Wind Systems, National Geographic, New York Life, Walt Disney World, Alliance for Climate Protection, Lionsgate Films, Pepsi and Sony Pictures Films.
An NBC representative said the network had sold out its inaugural sponsorships, noting a tremendous amount of interest that followed on the heels of the network’s best-ever fourth quarter.
Fox News Channel said it was focusing its ad sales and marketing efforts on three new shows it is launching this month, rather than on a one-day ratings booster.
