AT&T has agreed to a new carriage deal with Viacom’s MTV Networks and BET Networks that expands content distribution across AT&T’s television and wireless platforms.
The deal also puts content from five Viacom networks on AT&T CruiseCast, an in-car entertainment service scheduled to launch this spring.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
MTV HD, VH1 HD, CMT HD, BET HD, Nickelodeon HD, Comedy Central HD and Spike HD will be added to the AT&T U-verse lineup later this year. AT&T U-verse also will add some of Viacom’s international channels, including MTV India.
“This strategic deal brings more content to our customers in new and better ways, while supporting Viacom with increased distribution and advertising revenue,” said Dan York, executive VP of content at AT&T Services. “Our agreement helps us with several competitive content initiatives, including further differentiating our product set.”
