Go Where the Viewers Are, Break’s Richman Says

Jan 28, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Online video producers who want to develop an audience online should reach out to the thousands of Web sites and blogs that attract 10,000 or more visitors per day. That’s the advice from Keith Richman, CEO of online property Break Media, shared during an afternoon panel at NATPE in Las Vegas.
“Small sites and blogs control much of what gets popular each day, and there are thousands of sites that get over 10,000 visitors per day,” he said. “Pitch them appropriately to feature your content and it will be discovered by other site owners and brands. But you’ll be talking to a person who writes five to eight posts a day, and they don’t want to be told it’s the greatest thing in the world.”
To pique an advertiser’s interest, you need audience engagement, which comes both from view counts and how well a producer uses social networking to drive interest, said Aimee Buell, director of entertainment marketing at Green Room Entertainment, a division of OMG, during the panel.
