Comedy Central Goes HD
Comedy Central has made the move to high definition on Cablevision, with HD coverage reaching Cox and DirecTV viewers by the end of the month, TelevisionWeek reported.
The HD channel will make available the last 30 episodes of “South Park” and the first two seasons of “The Sarah Silverman Program,” along with various films and standup specials, in high definition, the publication said.
“The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” are not currently produced in HD, but are expected to make the move in the future.
CBS Streams HD Inauguration Coverage in Times Square
CBS’ six hours of planned coverage of President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration will be simulcast on MTV 44½, the network’s 22-foot-long and 40-foot-wide HD screen in Times Square, CBS said.
The coverage is expected to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST and run until 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.
Nine Inch Nails Offers HD Footage
Metal band Nine Inch Nails scrapped its plan of a high-definition concert film entitled “Lights in the Sky,” but 400 gigabytes of previously shot footage is being made available to fans via Torrent, EngadgetHD reported via NIN’s Internet forums.
Despite the freely available footage, forum users warn novice users to wait to download the footage until a more tech-savvy person has edited it into something digestible, as the massive file size and raw footage could cause computer errors.

Sony will receive the designation of the Official LCD Television, Official HD Television and Official Consumer Electronics Manufacturer of the New York Yankees.
