The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has given a multiyear extension to the contract of Chief Operating Officer Alan Perris.
Mr. Perris, who has served as COO since joining the organization in April 2006, supervises department heads and staff in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Television Academy and its Foundation.
He will continue to report to Television Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner, the Television Academy’s executive committee and, on matters related to the Academy Foundation, Chairman Jerry Petry and the Foundation board of directors.
“I’m delighted Alan will continue to play a key role in implementing and overseeing the board’s wide array of initiatives and programs,” Mr. Shaffner said in a statement.
Mr. Perris commented, “This job represents the culmination of my lifelong love and respect for television, associating me with the iconic brand and institution dedicated to awarding excellence in television.”
Before joining ATAS, Mr. Perris was executive VP of business development for Entertainment Media Works, the operator of StarStyle.com. He previously was senior VP of first-run programming at Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros.’ Telepictures unit, as well as president of the Scripps-Howard and Post-Newsweek TV production companies.
