Univision’s KMEX-TV Dominates 18-49, Nielsen Says

Los Angeles’ Univision O&O KMEX-TV finished the 2008 calendar year as the No. 1 station in the U.S., regardless of language, among viewers 18-49 throughout several parts of the day.
Year-end Nielsen Station Index Live + 7 information ranks KMEX as No. 1 in the country during primetime, early local news, late local news and total-day, based on average viewer impressions from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2008.
In primetime, KMEX averaged 305,000 viewers 18-49, compared to New York’s Fox station WNYW (284,000) and NBC station WNBC (239,000).
KMEX beat out New York’s ABC station WABC as well as WNBC in total-day viewership in the demographic (129,000 vs. 117,000 vs. 95,000) and late local news (197,000 vs. 189,000 vs. 161,000).
KMEX edged out WABC in the early local news race (146,000 vs. 131,000), followed by New York’s Univision station WXTV (126,000). In Los Angeles, the station’s 6 p.m. news has ranked No. 1 among adults 18-49 in the market for the last 59 consecutive Nielsen sweeps periods, starting in May 1994.
