Cedric the Entertainer and Kelsey Grammer moved closer to returning to television Wednesday, while CBS is expanding its relationship with “The Unit” creator Shawn Ryan.
In a busy afternoon for pilot pickups, CBS ordered two drama projects while ABC gave the thumbs-up to multiple half-hour pilots.
Among the projects:
“Confessions of a Contractor” (CBS): Mr. Ryan is executive producing, with Richard Murphy writing and co-executive producing. Based on Mr. Murphy’s book of the same name, the hour is meant to be an insider’s look at the sexy and provocative world of L.A. through the eyes of a successful contractor. Twentieth Century Fox TV is producing.
“The Eastmans” (CBS): Margaret Nagle wrote and will executive produce this medical hour, which revolves around a family of doctors. Warner Bros. TV is producing.
Untitled Bob Fisher Project (ABC): Cedric the Entertainer heads the cast of this single-camera comedy about reserve police officers for the LAPD. Mr. Fisher and Cedric the Entertainer wrote the pilot and will executive produce. Charle Segars is also an executive producer. ABC Studios and DreamWorks are producing.
Untitled Kelsey Grammer Project (ABC): The “Frasier” star returns as a once-successful CEO who gets fired and has to learn how to reconnect with his family. Tucker Cawley wrote the pilot and will executive produce the show. Warner Bros. TV and Good Humor are producing.
