A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge denied a request for a temporary restraining order that would invalidate the SAG national board majority’s written assent of Jan. 26. If granted, the TRO would have prevented the guild from restarting contract talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers.
In denying the order, Judge James Chalfant said the plaintiffs had no probability of success on the merits of their claims.
The SAG national board of directors is scheduled to meet with AFTRA on Saturday to discuss upcoming commercial contracts negotiations. A SAG board meeting will be held on Sunday.
“I’m pleased that we can put this matter behind us and dedicate our complete focus to the needs of Screen Actors Guild members. There’s a lot of work ahead of us,” David White, SAG’s interim national executive director, said in a statement.
