Producer-directors Rory Kennedy and Liz Garbus will deliver the closing keynote address at Mipdoc 2009.
The address by Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Garbus on “Social Change Through Documentary” will be held March 29.
Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Garbus will share their experiences making socially responsible documentary films in a moderated conversation with Lynne Kirby, senior VP of original programming for Sundance Channel.
Together, Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Garbus founded Moxie Firecracker Films in 1998. Their work has aired on HBO, A&E, MTV, TLC, Lifetime Television, Oxygen, Court TV (now truTV), Showtime, Discovery Channel, Channel 4 U.K. and Sundance Channel.
Ms. Kennedy produced and directed “Ghosts of Abu Ghraib,” which won the 2007 Primetime Emmy Award for documentary, in addition to “Facing AIDS,” “American Hollow,” “A Boy’s Life” and “Thank You, Mr. President: Helen Thomas at the White House.”
Ms. Garbus’ directorial credits include the Academy Award-nominated “The Farm: Angola, USA,” “The Execution of Wanda Jean,” “The Nazi Officer’s Wife” and the feature-length HBO film “Coma.”
Mipdoc 2009 will be held March 28-29 in Cannes.
