Visible Measures Tracks Super Bowl Ads, Related Content

Feb 5, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Visible Measures is applying its Viral Reach Database and methodology to measure the return on investment, performance and effectiveness of more than 50 Super Bowl ads, based on both the original commercials and on related videos found on more than 150 video-sharing Web sites.
As of Wednesday morning, Visible Measures found 4,000 unique clips related to this year’s Super Bowl ads with more than 75 million views and 55,000 comments. More than 1,000 new videos and 20 million new views have been discovered each day since Feb. 2.
While advertisers and agencies initially seeded ad videos, more than 85% of video placements were generated by viewers, driven by word of mouth and social connections at no extra cost to the advertiser.
Additional research will allow Visible Measures to break down data by campaign, industry, video-sharing network and community versus brand-driven type.

  1. Viral video containing user generated content is such a great opportunity. Companies like GeniusRocket and xLNTad have successfully directed viral videos to benefit creators and companies through crowd sourcing. Overall, I feel that viral videos are extremely effective and will continue to grow in the future.
