CBS Television Distribution’s “The Doctors” chalked up a daily series ratings high after an appearance from executive producer Dr. Phil McGraw during the week ending March 8.
Appearing on the March 2 episode, Dr. Phil’s visit gave the “Doctors” a 32% week-to-week household rating boost to a 2.5, its best daily showing ever.
For the week, “Doctors” posted a 5% increase to a 2.0 household average, leading the rookie pack for the week. The week ending March 8 contained the first two weekdays of this year’s March sweeps period.
The only other rise among the first-year shows was for NBC Universal Television Distribution’s “Deal or No Deal,” which gained 6% to a 1.8. The rest of the pack held steady from last week.
CBS’ “Dr. Phil,” on the other hand, dipped 12% to a 3.6 household rating, while “The Oprah Winfrey Show” slipped 4% to a 5.4 in the talk show genre.
Six shows in the genre posted gains, including Disney-ABC’s “Live With Regis and Kelly” (up 17% to a 2.8) and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (up 9% to a 2.4).
“Ellen” featured a chat with spurned “The Bachelor” winner Melissa Rycroft on March 5, which gave the talk show a 14% week-to-week boost.
In court, only three shows posted any ratings movement, all positive. CBS’ “Judge Judy” inched up by 2% from last week to a 4.6. Warner Bros.’ “People’s Court” gained 11% to a 2.0, while Twentieth Television’s “Divorce Court” increased by 8% to a 1.4.
CBS’ “Entertainment Tonight” took a minor dip in the entertainment newsmagazine department, off 2% to a 4.5 household rating. Warner Bros.’ “TMZ” gained 5% to a 2.3. The rest of the pack stayed flat.
The entire game show pack gained from last week, with CBS’ “Wheel of Fortune” (up 3% to a 7.7) and “Jeopardy” (up 5% to a 6.5) leading the field. Disney-ABC’s “Millionaire” broke a multiweek holding pattern as it gained 13% to a 2.7 household rating. Debmar-Mercury’s “Family Feud” also grew by 7% to a 1.5.
