Williams to Lead Africa Channel as President-CEO

Mar 30, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Elrick Williams, a member of the board of directors of the Africa Channel, has been named president and CEO of the network.
Mr. Williams will retain his seat on the board, as will former CEO James Makawa and former President Jacob Arback.
Mr. Williams, who steps into his new position immediately, is an entrepreneur and investor in entertainment-related enterprises through his Williams Group Holdings, among them the Los Angeles Sparks and various television productions.
“We knew this transition would eventually be taking place. James and Jacob had only planned to stay active with the channel on a day-to-day basis through the first couple of years of its startup phase to ensure its success,” Mr. Williams said in a statement. “We are fortunate that they will remain involved with the Africa Channel as board members. The board would personally like to thank both of them for all of their efforts in positioning this venture for its next phase of growth while overcoming the numerous challenges associated with launching a new cable network.”
