ABC Schedules New, Returning Series for Summer

ABC is planning to roll out at least seven first-run shows this summer, while also giving fans of some canceled series the chance to watch the final episodes of those programs.
The network Wednesday said its summer slate would, as previously announced, kick off with the return of “The Bachelorette” on Monday, May 18, from 9-11 p.m. The series, featuring Jillian Harris from the most recent “The Bachelor,” moves to the 8-10 p.m. block May 25, allowing ABC to slot the second season of “Here Comes the Newlyweds,” hosted by Pat Bullard, at 10 p.m. that night.
ABC will bring back reality comedy “Wipeout” on Wednesday, May 27, airing the show at 8 p.m. It will serve as a lead-in to Mike Judge’s animated comedy “The Goode Family,” which will air at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by the remaining original episodes of “Surviving Suburbia” at 9:30 p.m.
Later in the season, ABC will use “Wipeout” as a lead-in to the second season of “I Survived a Japanese Game Show,” which will air Wednesdays at 9 beginning July 8.
As for new series, ABC’s sports-themed “The Superstars” will return Tuesday, June 23, and will air at 8 p.m. The six-episode series pairs celebrities with athletes in a competition to determine the best athlete in the world. And on Monday, July 20, the network takes the wraps off of “Dating in the Dark,” a new reality show from Endemol USA and Talpa Content.
ABC also is bringing back Burnoff Theater, scheduling the remaining episodes of some critically loved shows that didn’t make the cut.
“Pushing Daisies” will air Saturdays at 10 from May 30 until June 13, with “Eli Stone” taking over that slot on June 20. “Dirty Sexy Money” returns for its death march on July 18, with its finale airing Aug. 8.

  1. Blech. I won’t be watching ABC this summer.

  2. WHAT A JOKE WITH ANOTHER SUMMER OF FLOPS EXPECTED AS USUAL. YOU WONDER HOW THESE EXECS ARE NOT FIRED FOR GREENLIGHTING THIS GARBAGE. JAPANESE GAMESHOW ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SUPERSTARS OF NONSENSE. DATING IN THE DARK HOW PATHETIC.

YAY! WOO HOO! I loved all three of those shows. I hope they get a proper wrap-up like they gave “Life On Mars”.

  4. WOW what a lineup! I can hardly wait.

  5. Glad they’re finishing up PD, ES, and DSM. As for the summer lineup, it may not be great, but it contains Wipeout – one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud. FUNNIEST SHOW EVER!!

  6. So glad I can see the final episodes of DSM. I am really still upset over its cancellation. The bad thing is I have to wait until July to see these episodes!

  7. Why don’t they let see how Las Vegas ended?

  8. HOOOORAY for Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone! Their cancellations were tragic and made me never want to watch TV again…So sad that people would rather watch Reality TV show crap instead. Pushing Daisies is by far the best TV show this decade if not century–brilliantly artistic!

  9. I cannot believe the sludge that ABC is going to promote as ‘programming’this summer. They are cancelling 3 creative, quirky & entertaining programs. Watching the final episodes will be like visiting with dear & delightful friends before they ‘pass on’. Eli, Daisies, & DSM will be the only bright spots in the dismal programming that is planned on this network.

  10. Bring back Eli Stone permanently…it is a great, feel good show we all need.

  11. Wayne Rooney’s matrimony was under intensive pressure last night after it was eventually disclosed that he had some sex session having a hooker although his wife was expecting. I’m hoping she divorces him like Tiger wood’s wife did, Idiot. aida
