Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution Names Cerio Exec VP, Cable Sales

Apr 20, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Former HBO executive Tom Cerio is joining Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution as executive vice president of cable sales, marking one of the last steps of the distributor’s integration with its cable element.
Mr. Cerio previously was executive VP of program distribution at HBO. He will oversee the distributor’s cable elements, including licensing of product to pay television and satellite services.
Warner Bros. Television announced in January 2008 that it was consolidating Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution under the Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution banner, with WBDTD President Ken Werner overseeing the entire distribution operation.
“Tom Cerio is one of the most talented and innovative distribution executives in the television industry. Over the span of his career, he has proven to be an outstanding leader, possessing great vision, and whose judgment and ability has created an unshakable bond of trust and confidence with his clients,” Mr. Werner said. “We know Tom will make an already strong team stronger, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Warner Bros.”
Along with Mr. Cerio coming aboard, the cable sales department underwent some reorganization as former Warner Bros. Domestic Distribution executives Gus Lucas, Mike Russo and Dan Menzel received new titles and roles.
Mr. Lucas, formerly cable’s executive VP, now is executive VP of strategic sales and planning, working with Mr. Cerio to scout new business opportunities with Warner Bros. material.
Mr. Russo becomes senior VP of West Coast cable sales, while Mr. Menzel is returning to Warner Bros. from Yahoo! Sports as vice president of cable sales. Mr. Russo will work with clients on the West Coast, while Mr. Menzel will deal with certain clients on the East Coast.
The sales team is the last stone to be placed in the Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution integration. The marketing element was set in October as Susan Kantor was promoted to executive VP of marketing.
