’50th Academy of Country Music Awards’ Delivers Its Largest Audience Since 1998

Last night’s 50TH ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS delivered its largest audience since 1998, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Sunday, April 19.

From 8:00-11:30 PM, THE ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS (S) was first in viewers (15.77m), adults 25-54 (4.6/12), adults 18-49 (3.6/11) and adults 18-34 (2.6/09). CBS won every half-hour in these measures from 8:00-11:00 PM. Compared to last year’s event (from 8:00-11:02 PM on April 6, 2014), THE ACM AWARDS was up +6% in adults 18-49 (from 3.4/09), +7% in adults 25-54 (from 4.3/10), +4% in adults 18-34 (from 2.5/08) and added +1.45m viewers (from 14.32m viewers, +10%). THE ACM AWARDS posted its largest audience since 1998 and its best key demo delivery since 2013.

Last night’s awards marked the first time the ACMs were broadcast an extra half-hour in the late 11:00-11:30 PM time period. In the 8:00-11:00 PM primetime window, THE ACM AWARDS was first in viewers (16.17m), adults 25-54 (4.7/12), adults 18-49 (3.7/11) and adults 18-34 (2.7/09), up +9% in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 while adding +1.85m viewers (+13%) from last year’s parallel window.

From 7:00-8:00 PM, 60 MINUTES was first in viewers (9.90m) and second in both adults 25-54 (1.8/04, -0.1 behind ABC) and adults 18-49 (1.2/04).

For the night, CBS was first in viewers (14.61m), adults 25-54 (4.0/10) and adults 18-49 (3.0/08), outpacing NBC, ABC and FOX in viewers by +20% (12.22m).

The ACMs also ranked as the #1 most social broadcast of the day, according to Nielsen Social.
