Press release from Cablevision, April 23, 2015:
Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE: CVC) announced today the launch of new Internet-focused Optimum product offers that provide greater choice and flexibility for the ‘cord cutter’ and ‘cord never’ generation of connectivity-minded consumers.
With market behavior evolving, Cablevision is expanding its product offerings to meet customers where they are. ‘Cord cutters’ and ‘cord nevers,’ who prefer to access video through the Internet, can now easily self-select the broadband products they want and receive over-the-air broadcast TV through a digital antenna*. The most price-sensitive consumers will have access to a new ‘Everyday Low Price’ three-product package designed to fit within limited budgets.
“As a connectivity company, Cablevision is reimagining its relationship with its customers,” said Kristin Dolan, chief operating officer, Cablevision. “Our new ‘cord cutter’ packages take a modern approach to traditional triple-product bundles and provide real alternatives that fit new consumer lifestyles.”
The Optimum ‘Everyday Low Price’ package, designed for highly price-sensitive consumers, includes Internet Basics 5 Mbps service, Freewheel phone, and a digital antenna. Launched earlier this year, Freewheel is a WiFi-exclusive phone service that provides unlimited data, talk and text, free from the high costs and data limits associated with cellular.
As these new product offers are primarily targeted to ‘cord cutters,’ they will not include Optimum TV video service. Instead, the digital antenna that Cablevision will provide is the state-of-the art Mohu Leaf® 50 (valued at $69.99) that will receive available over-the-air broadcast channels.
All of the new packages include unlimited access to Optimum WiFi, the nation’s most robust WiFi network with 1.1 million hotspots in the tri-state area. All Cablevision customers have access to 24/7 local customer support. Those interested in learning more can call (866) 580-0484 or visit Optimum.com.
