Comedy Central and South Park Digital Studios Celebrate 20 Seasons of ‘South Park’

To celebrate the Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning series’ historic 20th season, Comedy Central and South Park Digital Studios will honor the iconic series with specialized events on-air, online and on-the-ground. The historic 20th season premieres this fall on Wednesday, September 14 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

After kicking off the 20th season at Comic-Con in San Diego with a larger-than-life fan experience and a Hall H “South Park 20” panel with creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the celebration of “South Park” continues with: a traveling art exhibit curated by street pop culture artist Ron English; the launch of a redesigned “South Park” App and all-new Avatar Creator; the upcoming release of “South Park: The Fractured But Whole,” the eagerly-awaited new video game from Ubisoft; the “South Park 20 Experience” featuring 20 iconic 2D/3D moments to travel to additional locations throughout the year; GIPHY to cut GIFs from iconic moments featured at Comic-Con, as well as Comedy Central’s launch of the 20th season multi-tiered, multimedia marketing campaign to roll out over the next several months.

Comedy Central is currently running a #SouthParkSummer marathon with episodes airing every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. leading up to the 20th season premiere. Fans will also be able to vote on their favorite episodes across all social platforms with a countdown airing the most popular episodes on Sunday, September 4. SouthPark.cc.com will also host on-going contests and interactive elements.

A fully redesigned “South Park” App and an all-new “South Park” Avatar Creator launched today at the “South Park 20 Experience” at Comic-Con. The new App features an all-new user interface and boasts hundreds of sound clips from fan-favorite characters, free curated clip collections updated weekly, along with a Season 20 hub available during San Diego Comic-Con featuring behind-the-scenes content, images, gifs and a branded camera for sharing pictures on social. The all-new “South Park” Avatar Creator for desktop and mobile devices will also include bonus unlockable content only available to fans visiting the South Park 20 Experience at San Diego Comic-Con.

Ron English Curated Traveling Art Exhibit: Famed street artist and pop surrealist painter, Ron English hand-picked 20 artist interpretations of “South Park” to honor and celebrate the iconic series. The exhibit opened at the “South Park 20 Experience” at Comic-Con and will travel to other select locations across the country.

Fan Favorite Episodes – fans can vote across all social platforms on their favorite “South Park” episodes. Comedy Central will air the countdown to the most popular episode on Sunday, September 4 from 1:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

SouthParkSummer On-Air Event: Fans can catch up on “South Park” on-air every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. all summer-long, culminating in the season 20 premiere.

GIPHY – Comedy Central has partnered with GIPHY to GIF up the 20 iconic moments featured at Comic-Con from their respective episodes. As well as being feature on GIPHY.com, those GIFs will also be available within the “South Park” mobile app, Powered by GIPHY’s API.

“South Park 20 Experience” – launched at Comic-Con, the 20 iconic, life-sized scenes built out in 2D/3D format allowing fans to jump into some of the most memorable moments in “South Park” history for a photo op to share on social with #SOUTHPARK20 will travel to other select locations throughout the year.

“South Park: The Fractured But Whole” – on December 6, Ubisoft will release the highly-anticipated follow-up to the award-winning “South Park: Stick of Truth” as a digital download and at retailers on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC. Also available will be two collectibles, the RC Coon Bundle exclusively from Amazon and the Fart Pillow exclusively from GameStop. “South Park” Season 19 DVD and Blu-ray – available exclusively at Best Buy starting on August 16 and other retailers on September 6.
