Press release from NCC Media, Feb. 7, 2018:

NCC Media, the national advertising sales, marketing and technology company owned by and affiliated with all of America’s leading cable, satellite and telco operators, today announced the impending retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Schaefer.

Mr. Schaefer, who has been President and CEO since 2009, joined the company in 2002. He first served as Chief Operating Officer before being elevated to President in 2004. Mr. Schaefer will step down as President and CEO, effective December 31, 2018.

David Kline, Executive Vice President of Charter, President of Media Sales at Charter Communications, and member of the NCC Media Board of Directors said, “I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Greg’s achievements as President and CEO. During his tenure, Greg helped create innovative partnerships that revolutionized our business. Under his leadership NCC Media expanded and thrived.” Kline added, “We are extremely grateful that Greg has agreed to stay on through the end of 2018, and are confident that he and his strong leadership team will deliver another banner year, and assist with a smooth transition.”

Mr. Schaefer said, “It has been a fantastic 16 year run. I’m extremely proud of the business and culture we’ve built. What was called, sometimes a bit dismissively, ‘Spot Cable’ back then, is now a powerful, multi-platform video advertising behemoth, and we’ve created something that I know will grow and prosper for years to come.”

With breakthrough representation agreements with DIRECTV, DISH, Verizon and AT&T, Mr. Schaefer oversaw the industry’s foray into interconnecting markets, achieving greater reach for advertisers. Under his leadership, NCC’s ad sales revenue more than tripled, and Schaefer established strong working relationships with major national and regional ad agencies and marketers.

The political ad space is where Schaefer re-oriented the company most. He established a major presence in the nation’s capital, where NCC became one of, if not the, leading political ad revenue generators in the country. NCC entered the digital ad space under Schaefer, and over the last two years, digital video ad sales experienced unprecedented growth.

Mr. Schaefer concluded, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Board of Directors, our owners, affiliates, customers, and of course the advertising community that I have been part of for 40 years. I feel honored to have been asked to lead NCC Media through a time of such growth and change. I’m most proud of the team I pulled together, a tight knit group that has helped me guide the organization to new heights for over a decade and a half.”
