Full House for Peabody Awards

It was a jam-packed ballroom at the Waldorf-Astoria for the 68th annual Peabody Awards today.
Host Brian Williams joked he was “in the tank” for three of the esteemed awards—for colleague Richard Engel, “Saturday Night Live” and NBC Sports.
Winner Doug Ellin of “Entourage” joked that he thought it was a mistake, as did the winners from the Onion. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pressed home the point that his news organization was the best, and pointed out his resemblance to George Foster Peabody in an acceptance speech that got lots of laughs from the audience, including Mr. Williams.
The NBC News anchor closed the ceremony by saying it was a great one, with walk-ons from Earl “the Pearl” Monroe, a producer of ESPN’s Peabody-winning “Black Magic,” and Laura Linney, star of HBO’s honoree “John Adams.”
University of Georgia Prof. Horace Newcomb, director of the Peabody Awards, added they would do a DNA test on Peabody’s beard to see if it matched Mr. Blitzer’s.
