The ‘Who’ is Dead; Long Live Samantha?

Variety is reporting that ABC has pulled the plug on “Samantha Who,” but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Christina Applegate pop up again soon on the network.
“Who” had seemed pretty dead to me after it moved to Thursday and failed to generate much love from viewers. Expectations were low in the timeslot, but “Who” didn’t even match those low hopes.
Still, there had been buzz in recent days that ABC was trying to find a way to keep “Who” alive by changing the way the show was shot. It made some sense…and yet not really.
“Who” has had every chance to succeed on ABC. And yet, despite a strong core of fans (including Mama Adalian), it just never took off.
What is clear, however: Applegate is a major star. And ABC executives love her.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Steve McPherson is trying as hard as he can to convince Applegate to develop a new project for the network. Maybe, in the meantime, she could do an arc on another ABC series– like the new “Scrubs”? “Cougar Town”?
Other networks would probably be very interested in a talent holding deal with Applegate as well.
“Samantha Who” may be over. Christina Applegate, however, will be back on TV very soon—if that’s what she wants.

  1. I’m wating for Mama Adalian to be a guest-blogger.

  2. I could totally see CA on Scrubs. With Sarah Chalke leaving, CA would be a great replacement in my opinion.
I’m looking forward to Cougar Town, so, if that is good, bring on the Applegate!!
My dream would come true is she showed up on Desperate Housewives for an arc. That would be GOLD!
