EchoStar and Cox Communications were among winning bidders in a Federal Communications Commission auction of governmental airwaves that raised $19.6 billion, Multichannel News reports. EchoStar and Cox, which will pay a combined $1 billion, helped the FCC raise almost double the $10.2 billion U.S. Congress estimated would be raised by the auction, Multichannel News says.
