By moving to acquire Newsday from the Tribune Co., Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. will be challenging new media ownership rules adopted by the Federal Communications Commission, the New York Times reports. News Corp. already is in the process of seeking waivers of the rules in order to continue to control two newspapers—the New York Post and Wall Street Journal—in New York, where he also owns two TV stations, WNYW-TV and WWOR-TV.
